ASA on Children

ON CHILDREN

Problematic or not?

1 is the most problematic and 5 the least

1.       Images of guns being brandished in an aggressive manner – can scare children

2.       Using a children’s TV celebrity to advertise fast food – can encourage them to want to eat fast food and there for more young people becoming over weight

3.       Violence being shown as humorous – Children may think it is acceptable because people are laughing about it and they may not know right from wrong depending on how old they are- toy story, cartoons do this though

4.       Advertising alcohol around children’s programmes – might make them think that it is ok to drink and if they see around they may drink it

5.       Advertising gambling at tea time – Children probably wouldn’t understand
